Working With Gail
FOR NEARLY 4 DECADES, GAIL HAS GRACEFULLY DANCED HER WAY THROUGH THE WORLD OF VISUAL DESIGN. HER PASSION FOR BEAUTY AND WHIMSY IS IN EVERY PROJECT SHE TAKES ON.
Before returning to Canada, Gail spent 2 years in London, England and 18 years in Los Angeles. Originally beginning her career as a make-up artist, she worked on music videos, commercials, film, television and worked in a few top special effects labs. After 10 years she started working on her own independent film projects as a director / choreographer, while studying production design at UCLA. Needing a paycheque… Gail got side gigs decorating parties, eventually turning those skills into running a very successful event design company for 10 years, designing huge parties for clients such as the Academy Awards, Ringo Starr, NFL, Grammy Awards, MTV, XBox and many film premieres, her unique vision and whimsical approach earned her the title ‘ The Dr. Seuss of Event Design’.
In 2002 Gail and her family moved to Vancouver, where she became an interior designer and stager. These skills caught the attention of a producer leading her to becoming the ‘behind the scenes designer’ on many TV lifestyle shows such as the 2nd season of HGTV’s ‘Worst to First.’ and a few years ago she traveled across America on an A&E show called ‘Vacation Rental Potential’. She has also designed renovations for the W Network’s – ‘Love it or List it – Vancouver – Season I’ and ‘Love it or List it – Vacation Homes’, and 2 seasons of the HGTV show ‘Consumed’. Her design work can also be seen on ‘The Bachelorette Canada’ (and all the ‘After Show’ sets) and the HGTV series ‘Holmes Family Effect’. Gail also was on-camera as a Stager for the HGTV show ‘The Stagers – Season 2’.
A few years ago Gail returned to her first love of film & TV… she recently finished designing the 10th season of the Hallmark hit TV show ‘When Calls The Heart’ (having also designed season 9 last year). Prior to that she designed the Hallmark film ‘Christmas Bedtime Stories’, a remake of the 1997 thriller ‘Dying To Belong’ for Lifetime and a romantic comedy called ‘Wedding Cake Dreams’ plus a couple of Christmas MOWs for Hallmark.
As a painter Gail has had many one-woman shows and has had a long list of custom art clients – she was even commissioned to create works for The Academy Awards Governor’s Ball in Los Angeles. To view her artwork go to gailtaylor.org.
Gail has also created her own unique line of decorative items for the home and body, inspired by her paintings: bloomdesigns.ca.
Gail,
Just a quick note to say a big THANK YOU for all of your help this season. You have had such a big impact on the series and I am truly grateful for your vision and commitment to bringing the look of ‘The Bachelorette Canada‘ to life. Simply put, we couldn’t have done it without you. You are a pleasure to work with and I am thankful that you stuck with the series, even in difficult times. I think you’ll be proud once you see the show. It’s going to be a very special season. I look forward to working with you on the ‘After Show’, Gail.
Thanks again for making us look so good.
